Metal Roofs: A Different Type of Roofing

Metal roof by Barfield Roofing

When you think of metal roofs, your first thought may be of the corrugated tin barn roofs of yester-year. Up until quite recently, metal roofing has not been a particularly common or high-quality choice for homeowners. Fortunately, their popularity has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, as more high-tech materials become available for residential roofing. Because of their tricky design, metal roofs require an experienced contractor to install them – and Barfield Roofing is here to help! Check out our Metal Roofs page or read on for some information about this unique style of roofing.

A Different Type of Roofing

Although metal roofing is only just becoming popular, they boast a huge variety of benefits for homeowners, from their durability to their customizability to their environmentally-friendly materials. The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) writes that metal roofs are the only 100% fully recyclable style of roofing—a quarter or more of all metal roofs are made with recycled materials—and tend to be more resistant to the elements than asphalt or slate roofs. Living in Florida, weather-resistant roofing is an absolute necessity, and metal roofing is more than up to the task. Wind, fire, lightning, hail—you name it, a metal roof can handle it. Some manufacturers even have warranties that include salt corrosion from living near the beach!

Just like New Gutters, metal roofs are primarily available in tin, aluminum, and zinc. The most common type of metal that we use at Barfield Contracting is aluminum; it’s typically the most durable and long-lasting material, and it won’t corrode if the finish on the roof is compromised! These materials each have their own individual benefits and drawbacks, but all types of metal are safe, efficient, environmentally-friendly, and attractive. Where Barfield Contracting Comes In

At Barfield Contracting, we can adapt our metal roofs to your exact specifications. The most common type of metal roofing has vertical ribs spaced 6 to 12 inches apart; this is a clean, modern look, but is immediately recognizable as metal. If you’d rather have a more subtle look for your roof, you’re in luck—metal roofing can be adapted to look virtually indistinguishable from slate, tile, or asphalt shingles! You’ll have all the environmental and durability benefits of a metal roof while having the aesthetic beauty of another material.

Whether you’re interested in mimicking another form of roofing or sticking to the classic contemporary look, Barfield Contracting can help you with your metal roof every step of the way. Head over to our Metal Roofs page or call our office at (321) 454-4531 to get started!
